Charles M. Akeman, 1956-2003, Sweet Springs

Charles Monroe Akeman, 47, of rural Sweet Springs, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

He was born Oct. 10, 1956, in Independence, a son of Charles L. and Dorothy Vollrath Akeman. On Sept. 30, 1978, he was married to Vickie Steinkuhler, who survives of the home.

Mr. Akeman was Methodist. He lived in Sweet Springs most of his life, moving from Independence. He was a carpenter and a farmer. He was a 1974 graduate of Sweet Springs High School.

Also surviving are a daughter, Ashley Akeman, of the home; his mother, of Sweet Springs; and a sister, Martha Hatfield, of rural Sweet Springs.

He was predeceased by his father.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs, with the Rev. Gene Smith officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
